The STARLIGHT project has been featured in the European Commission’s CORDIS Results in Brief article, “Transparent, ethical AI tools making sense of massive and heterogeneous data”.
The article highlights STARLIGHT’s work in supporting law enforcement agencies with transparent, ethical and human-led AI tools designed to help investigators analyse large and complex digital evidence. It also presents the project’s focus on legal compliance, accountability, bias mitigation, data protection, chain of custody and operational usability.
Over the course of the project, STARLIGHT developed and enhanced more than 70 AI tools tailored to law enforcement needs. These include solutions for analysing online sources, threat intelligence, visual archives, audio recordings, geolocation data and digital forensic traces.
