STARLIGHT was presented at the CYCLOPES dissemination event, an annual event bringing together stakeholders working in cybercrime, including researchers, law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and industry experts. Held from April 16th to 17th in Vienna, this event provided a platform for insightful presentations and discussions on both practical and policy matters concerning cybercrime.
Prof. Dr. Marco Gerke from our partner, the Cybercrime Research Institute, and Freek Bomhof from TNO represented the STARLIGHT project on the second day of the event during a session dedicated to AI’s impact on fighting cybercrime together with Daniel Luckerath from ALIGNER.
Marco discussed the road to the AI Act, routes, and considerations for its implementation, as well as introducing AP4AI, which is designed to support legal and ethical compliance through self-assessment. This collaboration between STARLIGHT and AP4AI is part of our ongoing effort to improve the efficiency of AI technologies within security practices.
The session generated lively discussions about the integration of AI in law enforcement, and the feedback from these discussions will provide valuable insights that will help steer the future direction of our project.
We would like to thank the organisers for a well-run event and all the participants for their engaged discussions and insights.
